Chronicles of a Jin-Mei Pilot: Encounter at Vylade

Elizabeth Summaires decided to toss together a cheap fit Tristan and go looking for some action last night.  At first she wanted to test out the cheap fit against some rats in near by Auvergne and it seemed to be working pretty darn good.  She was using EMP rockets to pull down the shields and Thermal rockets to melt away the armor all the while using 125mm rails with iridium charges (I had about 47,000 units of small sized charges for some reason /shrug) to apply pressure the entire fight.  Happy with the little fit, she went in search for something more… 

It turns out there is a fellow named Lord Carvin who has gotten a name for himself around Vylade, Auvergne and Eglennaert as being a cheat and scoundrel.  He showed up and the Auvergne local channel went crazy!  People were calling him all kinds of names hurling insults about his mother.  Elizabeth was just finishing off a few rats and IvyRose* (an area local) was salvaging up the wrecks.  Lord Carvin showed up in a Vexor and IvyRose ran for her life…she wasn’t set as KOS or anything, so unless she had stolen from him earlier or something, it wasn’t obvious why she ran.  Elizabeth engaged her afterburner and throttled up to maximum sub-warp speed or 900 m/s and gave Lord Carvin a good bump.  Suddenly a canister appears with 1 single unit of small iron charges, so Elizabeth aligned to the star, punch the warp and swipe the charge.  Fully expected Lord Carvin to follow, as soon as the ship dropped out of warp she burned straight at full sub-warp speed towards her next target, but he never showed up.  By this time Elizabeth was getting anxious, so she warped back to 50 KMs from the belt, but Lord Carvin wasn’t there.  She began asking in local if anyone had seen “Lord Coward, the tough guy in a Vexor only willing to grief in 0.8 space”.  This caused him to toss back that she was the one who ran away, to which she replied she had expected him to follow.  We then agreed to meet back at the same asteroid belt, and Elizabeth sat there waiting for the remaining 12 minutes of the aggression timer.  Lord Carvin actually showed up right as the time went off.  Naturally Elizabeth made fun of him for that in the local channel as well and then moved on to Vylade looking for more willing sparing partners. 

After a full loop through all the belts in Vylade, Elizabeth noticed Lord Carvin enter the system and the local chat lit up again with curses and damnations as before.  She tracked him down to the first belt where he sat in an Iteron Mark V.  He dropped another canister, this time with 1 unit of veldspar and dared her to take it.  She aligned to the nearest planet, grabbed the ore and warped out as he got a single shot off, grazing her shields for a mere 12 damage.  Elizabeth warped back in at 30 KMs as he began to laugh at her in local for “running from an IttyV” and she released the hell-fury that only an angry Jin-Mei female pilot could.  Lord Carvin’s Iteron Mark V did not have very impressive shielding; they melted away in a matter of seconds.  As the armor was peeled away down to 50% just seconds later and Lord Carvin began crying for help in local.  Suddenly an Ishtar piloted by Doug White appeared and began remote repairing the Iteron.  Elizabeth’s rockets and rails were taking more off than Doug was able to repair and as Lord Carvin’ ship began to take hull damage the Vexor released a full compliment of drones and several guns onto her.  At this point the Iteron had only taken about 20% of her shields but once hit with the full force of the Ishtar’s guns and Warrior II’s while concentrating on the Iteron, her shields fell.  Klaxons sounding, Elizabeth tried to warp out once the damage went into the armor but Lord Carvin had her warp scrambled.  Then the unavoidable happened.

Moments later she sat cursing in her pod as it was being pulled into the docking bay of the nearest station and Lord Carvin shouted out into the local channel “IttyV 1, Tristan 0”.  Elizabeth replied “Ishtar 1, Tristan 0, IttyV cry-baby” and let him know that this was not over.  He said he always welcomes a fair fight and the channel exploded again with the locals accusing him of cheating and getting others to fight his battles for him.
